McDowell hopes to avoid "desperation" in NASCAR Cup playoffs
In 2021, Michael McDowell won the Daytona 500, but struggled to find the same success for the rest of the regular season. He crashed out of the playoff opener at Darlington, which ended his chances of advancing further in the playoffs. McDowell learned from that experience and realized that he didn’t have to take big risks to succeed, but rather focus on consistent finishes.
